MORE INFORMATION

To help to build a stronger, healthier Christchurch through regular exercise, REPs registered personal trainers are leading a free organised group exercise session.

Scores of gyms, fitness facilities and class venues are out of action which has prompted local personal trainers and group exercise instructors to band together in offering this free session to anyone of any fitness level.

“If ever there was a time to embrace regular exercise, this is it” says local PT and one of the organisers of the event, Jean Scott. “We know exercise relieves stress, elevates mood and makes people feel better and as many of us don’t have facilities at the moment we’ll use local parks to get people together and moving. It’s our way of helping Christchurch people recover and feel more positive both physically and emotionally”

The event was trialled over recent months, and since the public loved it so much, as of the 6th of August the event is being run weekly at North Hagley Park.
Its fun, interactive, and it brings people together. Better still we are showing people that looking after themselves doesn’t need to be hard.

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID

Rachel Harper 70 years young, retired and having had two knee replacements has this to say:

“Its great being outdoors, the trainers are helpful and give me exercises that I can do. Its nice to meet new people and its so much fun. Ive been to every session even when it rained”.

Client of Pascale Battrick Personal Trainer:

“I am so pleased I came to PT in the Park! I didn’t know what to expect but it was really fun and still quite challenging – I could really feel my abs the next day! And even in the rain I felt great. Thanks so much for inviting me Pascale!”

Testimonial from Pascale Battrick Personal Trainer
“Being of service to my community has always been my dream and now that I am connecting with people through this initiative and helping them build their post-quake survival kit, I feel really lucky. I’ve been able to really get involved in providing Christchurch people with the support they need to get in control of their bodies and their minds and it is so refreshing to work with the other trainers who are on the same wavelength.  I am excited to be helping to rebuild not only the city and the community, but also the future of the Christchurch wellness industry. I love my work and I love being part of the dynamic team that is involved with PT in the Park and all the other charitable events that REPs and Fitness NZ have so generously put on for us trainers”.

PT in the park is an initiative by FitnessNZ to assist the public in keeping active while many of the clubs effected by the Christchurch Earthquake remain closed.
